Fergus' Scottish heritage
Fergus is proud of its Scottish heritage, back from the days when Scottish settlers founded "Little Falls". So come to Fergus in August, and celebrate Scottish Culture, Heritage, and Traditions and the "Wee bit o' Scot" in you.
During this three-day event the second weekend in August, visitors from throughout the world enjoy all aspects of traditional Scottish Festival & Highland Games. Highland Dancing, Piping, Avenue of the Clans as well as a variety of tents and vendors make for a perfect weekend for local residents and visitors alike.
Some of the Highland Games events:
- Highland Dance Competition, with over 900 Dancers.
- Heavy Events Competition, with activities such as the traditional caber toss, hammer throw and tug-of-war. Professional, Masters and Amateur Competitors.

Yearly event
The Scottish festival also has a Pipe Band Competition, and a Scottish and Celtic Weekend Music Festival. The year 2005 marked the 60th annual Fergus Scottish Festival and Highland Games festival, North America's largest 3-day Scottish festival.

The Fergus Scottish Festival & Highland Games made the Top 50 Ontario Festivals list for the 7th. consecutive year in 2007. Quite an achievement, considering there are over 3,000 festivals and community events each year - all of then vying for inclusion in the Top 50.
